Description
Thousand year old cypress grow protected at Cat Island Wildlife refuge in the bottomlands of the Mississippi River near St Francisville LA. All manner of wildlife flourish in this swampy area that is under water a good part of the year. The largest cypress in the country lives here among towering giant trees that one must hike through to see this marvel. An unsustainable wood, huge forests were decimated, and due to extreme slow growth the great forests will never exist again especially in and near the treasured Atchafalaya Basin.
